1. Between 1760 and 1763 a military government was set up to keep order in New France. 

2. France ceded New France and its surrounding territories to Britain. 

3. The arrival of the Loyalists increased the proportion of English-speaking people in the Province of Quebec. 

4. The Canadiens were obliged to take the oath set out in the Test Act if they wanted to hold public office. 

5. A major reason for the conquest of New France was that its large territory was occupied by very few people. 

6. Montreal merchants, shut off from the Ohio Valley, founded the North -West Company. 

7. The Canadiens lost control over the fur trade and resorted to farming. 

8. The St. Lawrence Valley is now known as the Province of Quebec. 

9. To secure the Canadiens' loyalty to England,  Governor Carleton convinced London to grant certain concessions to the French population of the Province of Quebec. 

10. For the first time in its history, the French population was governed by British administrators. 

11. The Thirteen Colonies became the United States of America. 

12. French civil law, as embodied in the Custom of Paris, was now re-established. 

13. Its aim was to assimilate the Canadiens and make them British. 

14. The boundaries of the Province of Quebec stretched from Labrador to the Ohio Valley. 

15. The Loyalists settled in the Eastern Townships. 

16. The English and the French fought over the furs in the Great Lakes region and the territories of the Ohio Valley. 

17. It set up a civilian government to replace the military governnment. 

18. The English merchants were pleased to have the territory to the west but were furious about being denied an elected assembly. 

19. It allowed people to freely practise the Roman Catholic religion. 

20. Although the English merchants may have synpathized with the American invasion they stuck with the British because of commercial interests.

1. The economy of New France was held back by mercantilist policies.

12. James Murray decided not to have an elected assembly because it would have favoured English merchants. 

13. During the War of the Conquest, the fur trade had been ruined and agriculture neglected. 

14. The laws of England, which applied to Quebec,  prohibited Roman Catholics from holding public office.
